And what about us?

I discovered this fact from Nova yesterday on social media: Nearly 90% of all deep-sea species shine from within. image

Reading this begged the question, what about the human species? If 90% of deep-sea creatures are equipped with light to traverse the darkest depths of the sea, what about us humans? We need a light! We need light to see our way in dark places. We need light to energize our bodies and nourish our bones. We need inner light to propel us forward with hope when uncertainties abound. From whence cometh our light?

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105

“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of Life.” John 8:12

Make something happen

IMG_0851Hi Blog Community! I wanted to share an excerpt from my daily devotional with you. It will be out in paperback, just in time for Christmas. Enjoy, and like it if it resonates with you.

Make something happen

Want change? Pursue it. Go after something different and you’ll get something different. Literally, the gear shift for your life is in your mind. Change your thought pattern and you can change your outcome. Fill your mind with positives. Envision yourself healthy. See the success of your children. Build a healthy marriage in your mind. Occupy all the dark corners of doubt in your mind with something good. Choose to see the best in people. See your vocation thriving. Imagine that goal accomplished. Now then, what of your mind? You’ve created a healthy, fertile place to deposit good things. This soil will yield much increase for you.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8 (ESV)

They don’t have to like it

I am so glad I grew up in the era where a persons self-worth was not determined by likes or retweets. Where self-confidence was established in the home environment. Acceptance came from people who knew you, literally knew you, not virtually . When a handful of quality relationships could carry a person a lifetime. No one really has hundreds of friends. The notion is laughable. Who are we if we check social media more times a day than we engage face to face conversations in a month? Do you have three people you could call who would come to your home in a crisis? Would you be comfortable with them seeing you just as you are? No hair and makeup or barbers cut and shave. Can you have a phone conversation with them?

What is the source of your self-confidence? It comes from within, not external validation. Eventually external validation is good, we all need it. Being supported and understood is comforting. In the event that does not occur just when you need it. What are you working with in your inner man? Can it carry you, alone.

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?

My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2 NKJV

You don’t have to

You don’t have to ever go to church, or like anyone who calls themselves a christian, or care for any religious person. Just be sure to get in touch with your creator, and ask Him why he created you.

Today is a good day to find out.

“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 #Bible

Seal all cracks

IMG_1075.JPG
Winter is on its way. Now is a good time to seal all the cracks around your home, both literally and figuratively. Sealing the cracks in your property prevents water, air, bugs and pests from entering. Similarly, doing so in your relationship and your armour is going to save you a lot of damage control down the line.

Take some time this week to inspect your property, check. Then take a sweeping look at your relationship, check. Now, if you’re a Christian, examine your armour against Ephesians 6. Ready for this season? Check.

Free yourself!

image

Are you a believer in Christ feeling stifled or stuck? Is there a desire in your heart to accomplish something good that you just can’t seem to breakthrough to start? What is the counsel you have received? Is it encouraging and motivating? Are you confused?

Sometimes too many voices can be the source of confusion. Get alone with God and His word early in the morning and figure it out for yourself. He’s not playing hide and seek with you, if you seek Him, you’ll find Him when you seek for Him with all your heart. If the desire within you is from Him, He’ll show you how to get it done and with whom to team up.

Wait until you have clear direction, then go!

John 8:36 NLT So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

Psalm 63:1 KJV Early will I seek thee…

Jeremiah 29:13 NAS You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

P.S. Find the translation of the bible that speaks to you and read it 🙂
