And what about us?

I discovered this fact from Nova yesterday on social media: Nearly 90% of all deep-sea species shine from within. image

Reading this begged the question, what about the human species? If 90% of deep-sea creatures are equipped with light to traverse the darkest depths of the sea, what about us humans? We need a light! We need light to see our way in dark places. We need light to energize our bodies and nourish our bones. We need inner light to propel us forward with hope when uncertainties abound. From whence cometh our light?

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.”

Make something happen

IMG_0851Hi Blog Community! I wanted to share an excerpt from my daily devotional with you. It will be out in paperback, just in time for Christmas. Enjoy, and like it if it resonates with you.

Make something happen

Want change? Pursue it. Go after something different and you’ll get something different. Literally, the gear shift for your life is in your mind. Change your thought pattern and you can change your outcome. Fill your mind with positives. Envision yourself healthy. See the success of your children. Build a healthy marriage in your mind. Occupy all the dark corners of doubt in your mind with something good. Choose to see the best in people. See your vocation thriving. Imagine that goal accomplished. Now then, what of your mind? You’ve created a healthy, fertile place to deposit good things. This soil will yield much increase for you.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8 (ESV)

It’s a good day to start fresh

imageIt’s a good day to start fresh on “whatever”. The month of August is a transitional month. Mornings and evenings feel like fall in many places, students are preparing  for school and parents too. Change is totally in the air. So why not ride the momentum by applying this energy for transition to your life where it fits. Maybe you don’t have kids going to school, but you’ve meant to take a class in something that interests you. How about that home makeover project you’ve been thinking about? You could start small and make a change. Are you a creative? Did you start that latest project? What about your relationships, are they working? Can you effect a change in them for the better?  Take small steps, or crawl, just please don’t sit idle. Afterall, who should steer the handle bars of your life?

Your best

Have you done your very best? As a parent, as a wife or husband, in service or ministry? Have you done your best? Then let it be enough. Your best is enough. The Lord is not looking for perfection from you, He is that. Have you aligned yourself with His will for your life and done your best…. Up to the minute? Then relax, its harvest time!

Now, if you haven’t done your best, and the consequences are all around you, ask God to forgive you. Ask the “others” involved to forgive you as well, and get moving in the right direction for your life today. #Counsel4Living IMG_1244

Lean toward the light

Regular conversations with unhealthy people can make you feel bad. Consider interacting with someone who brings light to dark spaces. You know who that is, when you talk to them or even think of them you feel better. Lean toward the light today. Go team fitness

Go ahead and workout today! There are only twenty-eight days in February, so let’s set a goal of working out most days this month. Notice I didn’t say everyday… all efforts are accepted. Don’t let March catch you feeling like a sack of potatoes! Invest in yourself by exercising. Let me know how you’re doing by liking this post. Go team fitness!
